Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan, the administrative secretary of the tourism section in the UT Ladakh, presided over a seminar at the Civil Secretariat, Leh. The main aim of this seminar was to talk about the subject of handling visitor/tourist movement at Khardungla and formation of ample parking space. Moreover, the meeting deliberated on the elimination of timeworn and non-functional facilities like souvenir shops, ATM, public toilets and cafeteria in order to change Khardungla into a secure tourist place.
The seminar was graced with officers from numerous divisions like the District Deputy Commissioner, Public Works, Tourism, Vijayak (BRO) along with Leh Development Authority (LDA). The officers deliberated on several problems bearing in mind the necessity for sustainable and secure tourist supervision while conserving the environmental equilibrium and cultural inheritance of the area.
The Secretary stressed on the implication of creating a balance between tourism advancement and protecting the ecology adjoining Khardungla. He emphasized the necessity to modernize the inflow of visitors and tourists, to make sure their security and suitability and to alleviate the ecological influence of unrestricted movement of vehicles and bikes on the unspoiled landscape.
The Secretary emphasized on making the Khardongla Pass a stop-over place for tourists bearing in mind its height as well as protection and health of the tourists.
He highlighted that all the useless or outdated structures, which create an impediment, should be
removed for making space and parking lots for four and two wheelers individually. It was highlighted that
tourists visiting Khardungla can benefit from public services along with other facilities at North and South pullu.
