A small bay in the heart of Pembrokeshire has been named as one of five of the UK’s most peaceful beaches in a study that has been carried out by leading outdoor experts Go Outdoors. Backed by dunes and pine trees, Barafundle Bay is only accesible by a half-mile walk from the nearest car park, but boy is it worth it as it boasts incredible view and is constantly likened to the shores of the Carribean and Greece. It also plays host to some incredibe walk as it is right next to the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
Relatively remote and with a gorgeous stretch of golden sand and crystal clear Pembrokeshire waters, this particular beach, is one so loved that it constantly is voted for as one of the best beaches in the UK, if not the world – i n 2017, it was even recognised as one of the world’s best beaches by Passport Magazine, which includee 25 of the globe’s most idyllic settings, and was described as a “visual overdose of beauty”.
Describing the reasoning behind this ‘peaceful’ title, Go Outdoors has said of this utterly dreamy beach: “Inhale the fresh seaside air as you take in this beautiful beach landscape.
“Barfundle Bay, located near Stackpole Quay in Pembrokeshire, is a small bay backed by dunes and pine trees – the perfect place to unwind. The stretch of golden sands and clear blue waters is easy on the eye, whilst the sound of the tide lapping on the beach, gives a sense of ultimate relaxation.
“This beach is only accessible via a half mile walk from the nearest carpark, making it an ideal spot if you’re wanting to escape the business of towns and roads and spend some time by the sea.”
Barafundle Bay is also one of four Welsh beaches to have been named the best in the UK this year and is included in our round up of places in Wales that instantly transport you to another world.
