A beach has had to serve as a emergency runway after a plane flying over a seaside resort got into difficulty.
Lancashire Police said it was called by Blackpool Airport “to a report that a plane would need to make a controlled landing” at about 17:45 GMT on Thursday.
It said a “small aircraft” landed safely on Blackpool’s beach shortly after and no-one was injured.
The plane was then lifted on to the promenade by a crane and removed.
An Air Accidents Investigation Branch representative said it was “aware” of what “occurred yesterday on the beach near Blackpool airport”, but based on its “current understanding of the circumstances”, it would not be investigating.
