KEPALA BATAS: A total of 586 food operators nationwide have registered to offer the budget-friendly Menu Rahmah in their establishments.
Datuk Roziah Abudin, who is the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry’s deputy chief secretary (domestic trade development), said the Menu Rahmah offerings, priced from as low as RM5, would not have a negative impact on traders but the reverse.
“We have received feedback from food operators, who told us that the Menu Rahmah has become a crowd puller.
“With the presence of even more customers, there is an even bigger opportunity for them to profit,” she told reporters after launching the Menu Rahmah at Bafana Roasters Sdn Bhd in Bertam here yesterday.
Roziah said the Menu Rahmah on offer it not only limited to the B40 segment but also the T20.
She said the issue of discrimination does not arise as the Menu Rahmah aims to offer standard meals for all at RM5.
“We hope that even more sellers will voluntarily participate in the Menu Rahmah programme,” she said.
Roziah hoped that the programme would be continued and become part of the culture among traders to ensure that affordable meals would always be available for the people.
